How to Clean Griptape

Grip tape provides good traction for many things, such as skateboards, surfboards and floors. When grip tape gets dirty or muddy, you can replace it, or you can use the following materials and steps to clean it.

Things You'll Need

• Toothbrush Nylon Scrub Brush Dish Detergent Water Vinegar Towel

Instructions

1. Create a soapy mixture with hot water and dish detergent.

2. Dip an old toothbrush or nylon scrubbing brush into the soapy water and gently scrub your grip tape. If you are cleaning a skateboard, avoid getting any metal hardware wet, including the wheels.

3. Dip your brush into pure white vinegar and scrub again if the soapy water did not thoroughly clean your grip tape.

4. Dab the grip tape with a towel until dry. You can also use a hairdryer, but make sure you keep it at least 6 inches away so the grip tape doesn't peel.
