Instructions

    • 1

Find a green pillowcase and pair of tights - if you don't have either of these items you can dye some old white or light colored ones.

    • 2

Draw scales or squiggly lines with a permanent marker.

    • 3

Cut a jagged neck opening at seamed end and jagged armholes on each side.

    • 4

Cut a 1 1/2-inch, U-shaped opening in center of hemmed end. This will create the legs.

    • 5

String green yarn through hem casing of each leg. These will work as drawstrings when the child is in costume.

    • 6

Cut tail from green felt and staple to hem of costume.

    • 7

Draw a large figure eight on a piece of paper and cut along outside edge and use as a mask pattern.

    • 8

Place pattern on green felt and cut out then cut out eye and nose holes.

    • 9

Draw a mouth on felt with a permanent marker.

    • 10

Poke holes on each side of mask and add yarn ties.

    • 11

Cut a forked tongue from red felt and staple onto mask.

    • 12

Add your green tights along with green or brown shoes and you have a lizard costume.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use a mask on a very young child. A young child could suffocate.
