      Select squash that is young and has tender skin

      Wash your squash and slice it into 1/2-inch thick slices.

      Water blanch the squash for 3 minutes, cooling it immediately.

      Package drained squash in freezer bags, making sure to leave 1/2-inch of space at the top of the bag.

      Seal the freezer bag and put it in the freezer.

    Grated

      Wash and grate young and tender squash.

      Steam blanch small amounts of squash for 1 to 2 minutes or until it appears translucent.

      Package measured amounts into freezer bags, making sure to leave 1/2-inch of space at the top of the bag.

      Cool the bags of squash in cold water before freezing.
