Things You'll Need:
- Can of compressed air
- Trash can
- Garden hose
- Water supply
-
Step 1
Turn the power off on your HEPA air filter system and unplug the electrical cord from the power supply outlet. Open the air cleaner by unfastening the clips on the side of the unit and locating the HEPA filter inside.
-
Step 2
Remove the air filter by sliding it out of the HEPA air cleaner. Take the filter outside or some place where you can clean it properly.
-
Step 3
Lay the filter flat over a trash can and use a can of compressed air to blow any loose dust away from the filter and into the trash can. Turn the filter over and clean both sides of the filter, switching back and forth until all particles are removed.
-
Step 4
Clean the HEPA filter by turning on the water supply and spraying the filter gently with a garden hose. Place your thumb over the end of the hose to moderate the force of the spray, being careful not to damage the filter with the force of the spray.
-
Step 5
Place the filter leaning up in a shady area where a breeze can get to both sides of it. Allow the filter to air dry until it is completely dry (see Warning section for more information).
-
Step 6
Replace the HEPA filter back in the air cleaning once it is dry by sliding it back in place and closing the clasps on the unit. Plug the air cleaner back in and turn it on to verify that it is working properly.
