Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Organize a Pokémon team (made up of Pokémon trainers only, of course) if you'd like help putting the party together.
-
Step 2
Hold a planning session. Some important questions to answer are: How large a party? Where should it be held (home, church, recreation center)? How much time is needed to throw it? What events will be included (games, trading, raffles, refreshments)?
-
Step 3
Contact the location where you'd like to host your party, and relate how popular Pokémon is, and your ideas for the party. See if the organization is willing to help finance your event - you'll need the assistance if the party is going to be a big one, especially if it's free, which would be best. Set a date.
-
Step 4
Tell everyone you know who's into Pokémon; if you have a team, create a phone tree and an e-mail list.
-
Step 5
Create fliers to pass out and post around your neighborhood and at the location of your party (if it's not your house, of course). In your flier, be sure to include the date, time and location, as well as a description of the event. If there's a raffle, be sure to mention that, too. Remember to include pictures of your favorite Pokémon. If your neighborhood has a newsletter, include a mention of your party in it.
-
Step 6
Shop for any necessary items, such as prizes for the raffle (starter packs and Gameboy link cables are good prizes) and refreshments.
-
Step 7
Set up an hour or so before the party is to begin. Make sure you have the whole team, or have some volunteers signed up, to help you.
-
Step 8
Have fun!

on 7/20/2006 I came up with this for my little brother's birthday party:
1. Get an empty, large cardboard box and decorate it as you please.
2. Buy or make some empty PokéBalls (the recalled BK ones work well- and/or if you know someone who can do vacuum forming, have them make you some) and some random Pokémon figures small enough to fit in the balls.
3. Put the figures in the ball (make sure it's closed) and be sure that the ball is perfectly opaque so that you can't see which figure is inside.
4. Put the filled ball in the box for each guest you know is coming. If you don't know how many there are, make plenty of extras.
5. Set it out and have each guest randomly draw one at the end of the party.
