1
Paint the walls in neutral, fresh colors. Try a soft yellow or a warm cream. These colors will be easy to match with the other shades and hues you use in the room. Lighter colors will make the room look larger than it actually is. To make the walls appear taller, paint the ceiling a lighter shade of the color you use on the walls.

2
Add wall art. Wall art can come in many forms. You can add photos, posters or pictures of dogs. Try stenciling different breeds of dogs directly to the wall and them painting them. Vary the sizes of the dogs you add to the walls. You can add dog-themed wallpaper to an accent wall.

Decorate the furniture. Paint the furniture in the accent color you selected. Add decorative dog stickers to the furniture or stencil pictures of dogs. Use bone-shaped or dog-shaped drawer pulls. You can even decoupage photos of the family dog on the furniture.

4
Create dog-themed window treatments. Fabric with dog patterns make great draperies. Keep the window treatments simple; avoid heavy and bulky curtains because they will make the room look smaller. Try using a shelf as a valance and add a collection of porcelain or stuffed dogs to it.

5
Add accessories. Hang a small net in the corner and place stuffed dogs in it. Use ribbon with dogs on it as tie backs for the window treatments. Add dogs to the lamps, hamper, waste basket and the like. Use dog-shaped throw pillows and rugs.
