How to Remove Massage Oil From Sheets

Most massage oils are water-soluble, designed to wash out easily. But if massage oil is left on the sheets too long, it can become difficult to remove.

Things You'll Need

• Laundry detergent
• Washing machine or tub
• Spray laundry cleaner

Instructions

Good old soap and hot water

1. Pre-treat the oil stain with a spray cleaner such as Shout or Spray & Wash. Another option is to soak the stain in hot, soapy water.

2. Wash the sheets in hot water with laundry detergent. Some companies make detergent specifically for massage sheets, which contain enzymes specifically for getting massage lubricants out of sheets. These detergents are often environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic.

3. Check the sheets for evidence of stains before running them through the dryer. If the stain is still present, pre-treat the stain and wash again. If the sheets are dried with the stain still present, the stain becomes nearly impossible to remove.

Tips & Warnings

• Wash your sheets within a day or two of use. Tough stains may require detergents specifically for massage sheets. Dry and fold your sheets, and store them away from massage oils to prevent accidental staining.

• Do not allow the oil on your sheets to go rancid. This can ruin your sheets. Use a detergent with no perfumes or allergens, as this could cause a reaction with your client's skin.
