Children's birthday parties are exciting to plan and prepare. Parents can even get their children involved with the process. You and your child can make your own low-cost invitations for a martial arts-themed birthday party. With just a few sheets of construction paper, you'll have fun invitations that look like martial arts uniforms.
Fold one sheet of white construction paper in half to make a large "card."
2
Lay the white sheet of construction paper on a table so the fold is on the left.
3
Cut a strip off a sheet of black construction paper. The strip should be about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
4
Glue the strip across the front of the card about 2 1/2 inches from the bottom of the card.
5
Cut four more pieces of black strip from the same sheet of construction paper: two strips 3 1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide and two strips 2 inches long and 1 inch wide.
6
Place, in layering fashion, the smaller two strips, like an upside-down V, on the already affixed black strip, slightly to the left, as if the V is a sash hanging down.
7
Place the two longer strips at the top of the card, layering again, in a right-side-up V, as if it were the neck line.
8
Cut two rectangles from a second sheet of white construction paper and affix to the back of the card, diagonally, at what would be a shoulder line. These rectangles, or sleeves, should be about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide.
9
Cut two more strips from a sheet of black construction paper and affix to the white sleeves as cuffs. The strips should be 1 inch wide and 3 inches long.
10
Write the party details on the inside of the card: date, time, location.
Tips & Warnings
For an extra kick, cut a small circle from a red sheet of construction paper, center under the neck line and layer with a star cut from yellow construction paper. Use this decal as a space to write the birthday child's name and celebrating year.
Supervise children carefully when they are using scissors and glue.
