Instructions

    • 1

Find a used automobile tire, but not a steel-belted one. Use a hacksaw to cut the tire up into large sections. Place one of the sections into a large vise.

    • 2

Lay a shoe you currently wear over the section of tire and trace its shape. Use the hacksaw to cut the sole from the tire. Place another section of tire in the vise, trace again, and cut the sole for the other shoe.

    • 3

Use a file and sandpaper to smooth the rough edges of the soles. Also use a hot gun to melt them a bit.

    • 4

Cut two straps from another section of tire, making sure they are long enough to arch over your feet and still connect with the sandals.

    • 5

Cut two holes in each sandal where you want the straps to attach. Now push the straps through, and use the hot gun to melt the ends to the bottom of the sandals.
