Read the directions on the wood cleaning product. Some allow you to spray or pour on. Others may need to dilute in water. It is important to understand the instructions and warnings so you do not ruin the decking material.

2
Determine the mildew damage. If you have a small area of mildew, you can use a rag and a plastic spray bottle to clean the area. However, if half of the decking needs treatment, use a rubber squeegee and pour the solution onto the decking.

Clean the decking material. For the smaller area, use the rag in a circular motion over the mildew area. For a larger area, use the rubber squeegee to rub the cleaning solution into the decking. Use a back and forth motion over the mildewed area. With either method, scrub fiercely and add more cleaning solution when necessary.

Use the hose to spray off the decking. Remove all the cleaning solution. Repeat Step 3 if the mildew persists.
