Things You'll Need:
- 13-inch square of light background cotton fabric Six 3-by-10-inch strips of colorful cotton fabric (wedding rings) Two 4-inch squares of colorful cotton fabric (corner squares)
-
Step 1
Choose a light background fabric for the foundation of the quilt block. The double wedding ring is created by contrasting the colors of the rings with the light background fabric, so it is important that your background fabric be light in color. Select either a solid fabric or a fabric with a very muted pattern.
-
Step 2
Decide your color scheme for the wedding ring portion of the quilt. You could use fabrics of all different colors and patterns, or you could choose to use fabrics of certain colors.
If you choose fabrics of all different colors and patterns, you will have a quilt with a scrappy look. This is a popular quilt, because it is easy to make. Little planning is involved with this kind of quilt.
If you choose fabrics of a certain color family, you should vary the patterns of fabric. You can also vary the lightness and darkness of the fabrics and mix them up as you create the wedding rings. Place lighter fabrics beside darker fabrics and mix up the patterns to create interesting wedding rings. -
Step 3
Select different fabrics to use for the corner squares. These fabrics should not be fabrics that were also used for the wedding rings. Often these fabrics are bolder and brighter than the wedding ring fabrics.
