There is no part of our life that we can't convert to being green. Gift wrap is no exception. There is no need to use wrapping paper or expensive gift bags when you are trying to be green. All they do is fill landfill.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first green gift wrap idea is to use a reusable grocery bag as a gift bag. This is so great because they are good size and are a extra gift. Think of how many plastic grocery bags you are saving by this gift. They are often less expensive than regular gift bags.

  2. Step 2

The next idea is to use a reusable container. For example I gave a baby shower gift in a toy box that matched the nursery decor. On the baby shower note you can also buy a baby shower and fill it with little gifts. Be creative for instants you could use a nice laundry basket to give a wedding gift. Or recycled plastic storage containers make a great box to contain a gift just add a bow.

  3. Step 3

Use your shredded paper instead of tissue paper. This also is good for shipping items. Why not give your shredded documents a final use before the trip to the landfill.

  4. Step 4

Reuse old gift bags and bows. This may seem tacky but it such a waste to just throw them away. Keep a storage container with extra bags and when a party comes up dig threw it to find a bag for your gift. It is easy and saves you money as well as being good for the environment.

  5. Step 5

The last is an old idea I thought I would mention. Use your old news paper as gift wrap. We used to do this as kids but seems to be forgotten. You simply wrap the gift like normal but use the news paper.
