Valentine's Day parties are a rite of passage for young children. At these parties, kids exchange Valentine's cards. In most cases, each child must supply a box where other kids can deliver their cards. With an adult's help, these boxes are easy to make. If you know how to wrap a Christmas present, you can make a kid's Valentine box.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cover the outside of the shoebox with construction paper. Tape the paper in place. It's okay if the paper overlaps, but make sure that there are no gaps.

  2. Step 2

Cover the outside of the lid with construction paper by taping several sheets to the top.

  3. Step 3

Cut a narrow rectangle in the lid of the box. The hole should be about 1 or 2 inches wide and at least 6 inches long. This is the slot for the cards.

  4. Step 4

Tape the construction paper around the edges of the card hole.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the box and lid with markers or crayons.

  6. Step 6

Write your child's name on box and lid.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use red, white and pink construction paper. Consider cutting pictures out of magazines to glue to the box, or apply stickers.
  • Do not let children cut the hole in the lid of the box.
