Things You'll Need:
- Bulbs
- Potting Soil
- Shovel
- Plastic (optional)
-
Step 1
Dig each spot an extra inch deeper than recommended by the manufactory. Also make sure each hole is at least 4-6 inches wide. This will loosen the soil and make it easier for water and nutrients to get to the bulb.
Place one inch of potting soil in the hole before placing your bulb in the center. -
Step 2
Cover the bulb with 3-4 inches of potting soil.
-
Step 3
Cover with standard top soil. Saturate the ground for the next two days. Water 2-3 times a day at least. This will jump-start the growth of the bulb.
-
Step 4
Optional: You can also spread clear plastic over the flowerbed; holding with rocks. This will hold in heat and moisture, giving the bulbs a hothouse to develop in. As soon as the bulbs start breaking the ground, remove the plastic.
