The flowers for a funeral are an important gesture of respect and remembrance for the deceased. They are comforting, and a simple way to show a friend or family that you care. Here are a few ways to arrange the flowers for a funeral and some ideas of what to use.

Choose flowers that were liked or important to the deceased or their family. If there are no specific flowers, choose traditional funeral flowers such as carnations, lilies, irises, or roses.

Arrange the flowers in vases. For the centerpieces shape them into wreathes, hearts, or crosses by attaching them to a matching Styrofoam shape. Use a stand to hold them up, or a hook to hang them from the wall.

Use real flowers for vases that will not be kept, and fake flowers for intricate shapes or arrangements. The family or friends can keep them later on and they will not wilt or die.

Cut flowers to lay as a casket spray about 4 feet long. The colors are normally chosen by gender of the deceased and mixed with greens. Favorite colors or religious colors can also be used.

Arrange flower arrangements to spell out the person's name and display them behind or in front of the casket. Use the same color flowers for each letter so they will match.
