This article will show you the most efficient way to thoroughly clean a child's bedroom or even your own! It can even be a fun task.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A way to wash clothes
  • Vacuum
  • All purpose cleaner
  • Paper towels or rags
  • Baking soda (optional)
  • Motivation
  1. Step 1

Start with the bed. First take off the sheets, pillowcases, pillows and blankets and put them into the washer. (Don’t forget to dry them too!) Vacuum the bed and then move the bed to another area and vacuum the spot where it had been. Move the bed back to its original position.

  2. Step 2

If there is ANYTHING laying on the floor or on top of the dresser, toss it onto the bed so it’s all together. This is where the fun starts because you get to organize everything. You can either make small piles of each thing (I.e. clothes, toys, magazines) or sort each item out one by one.

  3. Step 3

Get out your all purpose cleaner and wipe off the top of the dresser, tv, windows, or any other hard surface. If there is a rug in your room, now would be a good time to shake it out on the lawn.

  4. Step 4

Hang up or fold all clothes. Donate any unwanted clothes that you find, or take them to a consignment shop for some quick cash.

  5. Step 5

Put any toys or other items into their proper places, remembering to organize as you go. Roll up or zip-tie cords together. (You can use toilet paper tubes for an inexpensive cord-holder.) Put seldom used items into the closet, leaving out only daily items. Throw away or donate anything that you don’t want or need anymore.

  6. Step 6

Once the bed is empty of all the stuff that had been up there, it may need another vacuuming depending on how dirty it has gotten. A great way to freshen the bed is to sprinkle baking soda onto it. Let it sit a little while and vacuum. After you do that, put the blankets and sheets back on, smoothing out the corners so they are picture perfect. Fluff and arrange the pillows nicely.

  7. Step 7

Vacuum the rest of the floor (and replace the rug if you have one). Make sure to sweep out corners for any cobwebs or dust, and under dressers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to use only cleaner compatible with your specific piece of furniture.

on 4/15/2009 THIS IS EXACTLY how I tell my kids/husband to clean the rooms. Not only does it make for efficient results, it looks so rewarding once you've got EVERYTHING off of all the other surfaces. Except I do the bed part last, cuz dust gets on there from the junk we pile on, LOL!!/88888
