How to Make Beeswax
Beeswax is a natural byproduct from the honey production of the female honeybees. It is used as a glue to support the beehive framework. Things You'll Need
- Beeswax
- Double boiler, a two-pot set or a glass or metal bowl that rests halfway inside a pot
- Strainer
- Wooden spoon
- Water

Gather your beeswax. If you are collecting from beehives that are bee-free, soak the honeycombs in warm water to release the honey residue.

Boil the honeycombs to melt the wax and separate it out from the honey and other parts of the hive. Gently stir with a wooden spoon to release some of the wax. Some of the ingredients will settle at the bottom of the pot, while the wax collects as a layer above the water. Let cool to remove the wax. Gather your wax pieces and set aside.

Pour water into the pot that will be the bottom of your double boiler. Place the other pot or bowl into the pot. Turn the stove on to heat.

Place the wax into the top pot or bowl of the double boiler, and heat until melted. Use a strainer to remove any remaining debris.

Before the wax cools, pour it into your mold to save for later use. This can be a glass or metal bowl, or a soap mold. Let cool.

Release the beeswax from the mold once it is cooled. Store in a cool, dry place.
