How to Make a Blue Jeans Book Bag

  • Sewing machine and denim needle

      Lay the jeans out flat. Cut each leg off just above the crotch seam. Make sure to use a straight cut. Try to avoid cutting through any pockets. Set the legs aside.

      Turn the blue jeans inside out. Pin the bottom closed. Sew across the bottom, leaving a 1/2-inch seam allowance.

      Cut the bottom hem off each leg along the seam. If done carefully, you will not need to sew handles for the bag. On each cuff, cut it open along the inseam.

      Pin the cuffs to the top inside of the bag, making two handles. Sew them on. Turn the bag right side out. You can use existing pockets for your keys, cell phone or other small items.
