How to make ribbon roses is explained out in this article, with detailed step by step instructions and pictures. Making roses with ribbons is an easy, fun craft to do and also a great way to use up leftover ribbon. Ribbon flowers can be used to decorate spring gift baskets, gifts, table centerpieces and anywhere else you can think of!

The main material is the ribbon. Any size and type of ribbon can be used, but when making ribbon roses, a wired ribbon will be the easiest to work with.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Gather the supplies and cut the wired ribbon to 12" in length.

The roses can be wrapped around any base you prefer. Here we are using a floral wired stick, recycled from an old silk flower.

  2. Step 2

Gather the ribbon at the bottom, start by finding the wires on the end. After exposing the wire, push the ribbon to the center on each side.

  3. Step 3

Take a hold of one end of the wire on the ribbon, and wrap it tightly around the floral stick. Here the ribbon is folded in half, and is beginning to be wrapped around the stick.

  4. Step 4

Keep wrapping the wired ribbon around the base. The ribbon rose is just starting to take shape. Make the ribbon as loose or as tight as you want, depending on how you would like the finished rose to look.

  5. Step 5

After the ribbon has been completely wrapped around, take the last exposed wire, and wind it around the base of the ribbon flower. Wrap the wire around until it is no longer sticking out.

  6. Step 6

Lastly, trim up the bottom of the ribbon rose, cutting off extra ribbon that sticks out from the wire. Take a glue gun, and glue down the entire end of the rose. This keeps the flower secure and safe from unraveling.

  7. Step 7

After you have finished with the flower, it can be adjusted and pulled until it looks exactly the way you want.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with wrapping loosely or tighter, to make different stages of an opened rose.
