How to Make a Trucker Hat

One of the coolest trends in head wear today is the infamous trucker hat. These hats are primarily throwbacks to the popular hats worn in the 70s and 80s. You can design your own cool trucker hats and sell them to your friends, family and even to people all over the world. This is a great way to design your own gear and start a small business on the side.

Things You'll Need

• Zazzle or MetaCafe account
• Photo editing software
• Computer
• Internet

Instructions

1. Purchase photo editing software. You will be using photo editing software to help you create original designs to put on your trucker hats. There are a couple of really good programs to use such as Photoshop and GIMP. If you have the cash to spare you should purchase Photoshop, as it is the best photo editing program around. If you are on a strict budget you can use GIMP for free.

2. Install your photo editing software and open up the program. Double click on the program icon and wait for the software to open up. Once the program is opened up you will need to open up a new project.

3. Create your trucker hat design. You can either open up a few stock photos and use the tools to manipulate them and layer them into your design. You can also use the tools on the program to make design from scratch. In the Resources section below, there are links to Photoshop tutorials to help you learn how to use the software.

4. Save your design as a .PNG file in your My Picture folder. Saving your design as this particular type of file will preserve most of the quality of the picture.

5. Open up an account with Zazzle or MetaCafe. Both of these sites will allow you to upload your original designs to put on trucker hats, t-shirts, stickers, and even posters. Zazzle is a little bit better as it offers you a full online store and gallery and an account all for free, while you have to pay for MetaCafe.

6. Login to your Zazzle or Metacafe account and select the trucker hat as the product you would like to design. After you have chosen this product you will be asked to upload your design to be placed on the hat. Use the tools to help resize the design to make it fit perfectly on your hat. You can also choose what color the hat will be as well.

7. Click on the icon to complete your design. Once your design is complete you will be able to purchase your very own trucker hat with your design on it, or send out the link to all your friends and family so they can buy one too.
