How to Make Bath Balls

At the end of a long, hard day, a soak in a warm bath is inviting. It is a relaxing and restorative treat for many people. To make it even more invigorating, you can add a homemade bath ball to fizz away your cares with fragrance and moisture.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two small bowls 2 tbsp. citric acid 2 tbsp. corn starch ¼ cup baking soda 3 tbsp. of moisturizing oil (sweet almond, apricot kernel, shea or olive) Three to four drops of fragrance oil Food coloring Wax paper Glass jar
  1. Step 1

    Combine the citric acid, corn starch and baking soda in a bowl until well mixed. Make sure that there are no clumps.

  2. Step 2

    In a second bowl, mix the moisturizing oil, fragrance oil and food coloring.

  3. Step 3

    Add the blended wet ingredients to the dry, slowly pouring them in until the mixture is moist.

  4. Step 4

    Knead the mixture like dough until it is well blended.

  5. Step 5

    Pull the dough apart into equal sections.

  6. Step 6

    Using your hands, shape the dough into 1-inch balls, rolling them in your hands to make them uniform and smooth.

  7. Step 7

    Put the balls on a sheet of wax paper to dry for about three hours in a warm, dry place.

  8. Step 8

    Once the bath balls are dry, store them in a glass jar.

Tips & Warnings
  • These make great gifts. All you have to do is dress a jar up with ribbon or fabric and add a personalized gift tag.
  • Do not use peanut oil if you have any nut allergies.
