Follow these steps to learn how to make both double crochet and half double crochet herringbone stitches.

Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Double Crochet Herringbone
    Double Crochet Herringbone

    * Herringbone Double Crochet- To Start, chain any number of stitches to desired length, plus two more. Yarn over and insert hook into Third chain from hook, yarn over and pull through chain and through first loop on hook. Yarn over and draw through one loop on hook, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook. Repeat from * in each chain to end.

  2. Step 2

    Chain three and turn (counts as first). Yarn over and insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch and through first loop on hook. Yarn over and draw through one loop on hook, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook. Repeat from * to end working last stitch into previous turning chain. - Repeat Step Two for pattern.

  3. Step 3
    Half Double Crochet Herringbone
    Half Double Crochet Herringbone

    * Herringbone Half Double Crochet- To Start, chain any number of stitches to desired length, plus one more. Yarn over and insert hook into Third chain from hook, yarn over and draw through chain and through first loop on hook. Yarn over and draw through both loops on hook. Repeat from * in each chain to end.

  4. Step 4

    Chain three and turn (counts as first). Yarn over and insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and draw through stitch and through first loop on hook. Yarn over and draw through both loops on hook. Repeat from * to end working last stitch into previous turning chain. - Repeat Step Four for pattern.
