Vending on the Streets of Los Angeles is a welcomed site to residents. Full of city flare, the idea of not seeing a vending truck on the corner of 3rd and Western or any of the other great hangouts could cause a local to have a discouraging word..or two. Selling tacos, or other types of food vending is a popular business that brings in all cash and provides a steady source of income. Here's how you too can sell tacos on the streets of Los Angeles.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Every vendor needs an actual vending truck or vending cart to prepare the food. While you will see folks without such, those people don't start cooking until way after 12am.

  2. Step 2

Once you have your trailer, you need your licenses and permits. The City of Los Angeles requires every food vendor to have a business license, license for the vehicle of which you sell the food (vendor trailer or vending truck) and a health department license.

  3. Step 3

You need to have the health department license to serve any customers. To get this license, a required free course is given to familiarize vendors with the rules and regulations for food vending. There is also an inspection of the actual vending unit to make sure it is up to code.

  4. Step 4

Once you have your government requirements set, you are now ready to get selling. If you are going to be making tacos, bulk food is next on your agenda. There are some seriously discounted restaurant stores food vendors can set up accounts with to get inexpensive food.

  5. Step 5

After the food is bought, you need to find the time and the spot for your vending of tacos. Los Angeles is hustling with great places to put your rig, but you might find some vendors are already out there and have 'staked' their spots.

  6. Step 6

Once you have your spot, you need customers. The smell of great tasting tacos, will have them coming, plus if you don't charge too much, locals will return every night without hesitation!
