      Boil the water, add the wild rice, cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Brown rice takes the same amount of time to cook, so if you wanted to throw some brown rice in there as well, feel free. You can add salt and butter or some bouillon cubes for more flavor.

      Add a half-cup of teriyaki sauce, an eighth-cup of low-sodium soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of butter if you want something spicy and different. Your family might think you hired a professional cook.

      Follow the rice cooker instructions as you would for brown rice if you're using a rice cooker. White rice cooks faster than brown rice, so don't cook wild rice with white rice.
