Instructions

    • 1

Prepare your jeans by washing and ironing them. Lay the jeans flat on a table and cut the pant legs off, as if you are making a pair of shorts. Cut away the crotch underneath the back pockets, making sure you don't cut the zipper. At this point you should have a top half of the jean with no crotch, with the zipper intact. Put the pant legs to the side for later use.

Turn the top part of your old jeans that you just cut inside out and sew across the bottom twice to reinforce your purse bottom. Turn the material right-side out. Now you have a big jean pouch that needs a handle.

    • 3

Cut the jeans legs into two strips, making each 20 inches long by 4 inches wide. These will form the shoulder strap of your bag.

    • 4

With the wrong sides together, stitch up the sides of the strap lengthwise to sew the two pieces together and form a single piece of fabric. Fold the piece in half lengthwise and press the fold with your iron. Once you have a nice fold, open the fold, bring the raw edges into the fold line and iron them in place. Fold the new edges together (you can press them with an iron) and stitch along the new edge lengthwise to close up the fold.

Sew on the strap to each end of your denim purse, making sure you reinforce your stitches.
