Things You'll Need:
- Sewing machine
- Old denim jeans
- Scarf or colorful belt
- Iron
-
Step 1
Prepare your jeans by washing them and ironing them first. Lay jeans flat on table and cut the pant legs off as if you are making a pair of shorts. Cut away the crotch underneath the back pockets making sure you don't cut the zipper. At this point you should have a top half of the jean with no crotch but zipper in tack. Put the pant legs to the side for later use.
-
Step 2
Turn the top part of your old jeans that you just cut inside out and sew across the bottom twice to reinforce your purse bottom. Turn right side out.
-
Step 3
Now you should have a big jean pouch that needs a handle. This is where your pant legs come in. Take one and Cut (2) length wise 20 inches x 4 inches wide.
-
Step 4
With wrong sides together stitch up sides of the strap length wise (sewing the two pieces together) Now you should have one piece of fabric for your strap to fold in half length wise. Press the fold with your iron. Once you have a nice fold open the fold and bring raw edges into the fold line and press in place. Fold new edges together (you can press with iron) and stitch along the new edge length wise to close up fold and to make your strap.
-
Step 5
Sew on strap to each end of your denim purse making sure you re-enforce your stitches.
-
Step 6
You can add a colorful scarf or belt and watch heads turn.
