How to Make A St. Patrick's Day Hat - For Kids

A quick and fun hat craft to help kids get into that St. Patrick's Day spirit. Works as a decoration for home or school. All you need is green paper, scissors and maybe some glue, stickers or glitter.

Things You'll Need:

• Green Construction Paper
• Scissors
• White Glue (Optional)
• Stickers (Optional)
• Glitter (Optional)

1. 
    

   Fold the green paper in half so it makes a large, fat rectangle, as shown in the picture. Don't fold it to become a long, skinny rectangle.

2. 
    

   Cut about 3 inches of the paper off, leaving a 2 inch foot uncut, as shown in the second picture. Basically you need to make an "L" shape.

3. 
    

   Unfold paper and you have a basic hat with brim, as shown in the third picture.

4. 
    

   Use stickers and glue or glitter pens to decorate the hat to you heart's content, as shown in the fourth picture. It can be just a general St. Patrick's Day hat, or you can use some extra decorations to make it a leprechaun's hat.

Tips & Warnings

• Use glue to help secure the stickers on the paper. Sticker glue tends to be weak, and the stickers will usually just fall off in a few minutes. This way you save time, trouble, and the tears of a little one who lost a neat sticker.
• Children should never use scissors, glue, or glitter pens without adult supervision.
