Instructions

    • 1

Put your empty purse or handbag on a flat, sturdy surface. You will need to lay it out so that you can see it completely. Decide whether you want to sew your wrappers onto the purse or create your own purse from the candy wrappers.

    • 2

Use a strong adhesive to glue together the candy wrappers and the cardboard pieces. The cardboard pieces should fit the length and width of your candy wrappers. Gluing the cardboard onto the back will give the purse a strong backing. You want this if you're creating your own purse. If you're simply sewing wrappers onto your purse, you want the wrappers to be flexible. In this case, ignore this step.

    • 3

Sew the wrappers together on the sides in an in-and-out motion, the standard sewing motion. Make sure all adhesive is dry before you do this. It should make almost a lace on the sides of the candy wrappers. You'll need to go all the way through the purse and back out through the candy wrappers if you're sewing onto the purse. If you're making your own, do the same, but there will be cardboard on the back, thus making it a little harder to get the needle through.

Complete the purse by either sewing candy wrappers completely around the purse including the handle, or by finishing the design of your own purse. If you're creating your own, make sure to let the purse sit for a while just to be positive that the adhesive is dry.

Test the purse out. Put a few items in it and see how it works out. If you've created your own purse, you may want to consider putting cardboard on the bottom of it to give it extra support and stability. It may look strange, but if you like, you can design it by painting or coloring it.
