How to Put On a Clip-on Tie
You know what they say: Clothes make the man. Sometimes, you just have to show up to an important event wearing a tie. There are lots of reasons you might choose to wear a clip-on tie. Perhaps you have a disability that reduces range of motion in your arms. Maybe you never learned how to tie one in the first place and you don't have time to learn. Slip on your dress shirt and make sure that the button line runs over your navel. That way, your shirt will be on straight. Tuck the shirttails into your pants and make sure it's not too tight. This provides a firm foundation for your clip-on tie.

Flip up the collar of your shirt and button the top button. If it's uncomfortably tight, you may want to use a collar extender for a little more breathing room.

Push the tie's clip open. Double-check that the clip doesn't wobble back and forth. It should spring up and down firmly, or else it won't look crisp and firm.

Slip the clip behind your shirt's top button and press the knot down firmly. The tie should now be secured. If it's not, you may have inadvertently pushed the clip onto the button. If this has happened, jiggle the knot around until it's in proper position.

Pull your collar back down from back to front. Make sure that the sides of the clip-on tie are hidden by the wings of your collar. Adjust the base of the tie so it's right in line with the middle of your shirt.

Flatten the tie against your chest, then examine yourself in the mirror before you head out. As long as the clip-on tie is properly in place, it should stay there the whole night.
