Your child or dog has just ripped a hole in your vinyl spa cover, and you really can't afford a few hundred dollars to replace it. Can you fix it yourself? With some basic items and a bit of patience, your spa cover will be good as new before you know it.
Things You'll Need
- Heavy duty vinyl pool repair kit
- Duct tape
- Postal shipping tape
Clean the torn area of your spa cover on both sides, and let it dry thoroughly.
From the patch kit, cut two patches to the size of the tear, adding one inch on all sides. Trim the corners of the patches so they're rounded.
Apply the adhesive from the pool kit to the top side of the tear, covering the tear and an area one inch around it.
Place the first patch on the area of glue and press down, removing any air bubbles that may be trapped beneath the patch.
Turn the cover over and repeat steps three and four to the bottom side of the torn spa cover.
Allow to dry according to patch manufacturer's instructions; usually one to two hours.
Tips & Warnings
- Duct tape or postal shipping tape can be used to cover the tear if a patch kit is unavailable.
