Cooking a prime rib roast is a great way to celebrate a special occasion here is a great recipe I have used for years.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • prime rib roast
  • 5-10 garlic cloves
  • butcher twine
  • 2 onions
  • salt and pepper
  1. Step 1

1 st thing is to preheat oven to 375 degrees. Then you will want to tie your roast 1st by raping the twine around the roast then by tie a tight knot. Pull down a few more inches wrap twine around again and tuck under. Do this a few more times and tie the twine tight at the bottom.

  2. Step 2

Then rub with a very thick coat of salt and pepper and a small amount of olive oil. Next you will want to cut holes and insert the garlic.

  3. Step 3

Know you will want to prepare the pan. Take your roasting pan and place onions peeled and halved in pan with the cut side up. This will make a rack to get the roast of the bottom of the pan. Place roast with the fat cap up so the fat drips into the meet.

  4. Step 4

Place in oven. Cooking will vary by the size of roast so you will need to take the temperature with a probe thermometer. For rare pull the roast when the internal temperature is 125-130 for med rare and let rest for 15-20 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Carve and serve with some pan gravy. You can serve the extremely flavorful onions on the side or in the gravy.

Tips & Warnings
  • When selecting your roast choose one with 1/4 inch fat cap. This will add to the flavor.
  • consider every rib serves 2 people.
  • The thinner it is sliced the more tender it will be.
  • The internal temperature will continue to rise after you remove the roast from the heat
