Yeast rolls are a delicious addition to any type of meal and are commonly served at family events, especially the winter holidays. They are made with yeast, sugar, eggs, shortening and butter. You can brush them with honey to sweeten the taste.

    Things You'll Need

    • 6 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 2 tbsp. butter
    • 2 tbsp. olive oil
    • 2 1/2 tbsp. yeast
    • 2 1/2 cups water
      • 1

        Mix 2 cups flour, yeast and sugar in a large bowl.

        Warm water to 120 to 130 F and add it slowly to the mixture.

        Add olive oil.

        Add flour in 2-cup increments until the mixture's texture becomes soft and doughy.

        Knead your dough, on a floured board, and form it into a ball.

        Cover the dough and let it rise for 15 minutes.

        Cut the dough into 1-inch rectangles.

        Cover the dough and let it rise for 15 minutes.

        Bake in the oven at 400 F for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
