How to Have a Romantic Night at Home

I love to have a romantic meal with my husband but restaurants are always crowded, noisy, and well you have to drive. I like to share a bottle of wine and not have to worry about who is driving or the fact that I could have paid half or less for that bottle. So I enjoy having a meal at home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First prepare your house. If you have kids get them out of the house. Ask Grandma or an aunt or friend. Clean your house and remove kid stuff from sight.

  2. Step 2

Set the table. Use your nice stuff you never use. Polish your glasses and silverware. Use cloth napkins. Make the table look special. Get flowers and candles. Lower the lights and light the fireplace. Make your house romantic.

  3. Step 3

Pick out a nice bottle of wine. If you have one around the house you have been saving use it. If it is a red decant it. I like to start with a champagne, white, or cocktail. This is a special night go all out you are saving money by staying in.

  4. Step 4

Pick out a meal that you can cook most of the food ahead of time. I like to do courses an appetizer, salad, entrée and desert. I like to make the salad and appetizer ahead of time and put sauce or dressing on last minute. For dinner I usually make a filet because it is easy to cook. Just put under the broiler for 5-10 minutes each side and let rest for 5-10 minutes. I serve that with a baked potato and steamed asparagus. Then I serve with a homemade French mouse. You can make the mouse the morning of your date.

  5. Step 5

After dinner if you have a hot tub and weather allows it hang out in the hot tub with the rest of you champagne. A two-person tub is nice as well. Enjoy your night with nobody to interrupt your special night.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try to not talk about kids, money or work even though they are bound to come up.
  • Think of things to talk about ahead of time to try to avoid talking about problems like money and work such as places you way want to see or movies you may want to watch.
