There are many wonderful crochet patterns that are available for free online. However, finding good crochet patterns can be tedious because you are sorting through boring or mediocre patterns, but this article will give you some tips for finding that great pattern that you're looking for.

   Crochet Me is a good website, full of crochet patterns of all types for free. The website is based on the book by the same name- also very good! Crochet Pattern Central is another website dedicated to crochet patterns.

   Ravelry has a very wonderful library of patterns; some are free, some are a small fee to download. It is free to sign up, and I highly recommend going there for your crochet patterns. You can set up a search for "crochet", "wool", "free", and "hat" (or whatever pattern and fiber-type you are looking for) and this way you can save a lot of time if you know what you're looking for. You can also leisurely browse the patterns if you don't know what you are looking for.

3. 

   Many yarn companies have free patterns on their websites- one that has a very source of free crochet patterns is on Berocco's pattern library. Lion yarn also has a huge database of patterns, and Elann.com and Knitpicks.com are good sources as well.

4. 

   Many of the crochet magazines have some patterns that are only available online, so be sure to look into these for each issue. Crochet Today, Interweave Crochet, and Crochet! all have really wonderful, stylish patterns.

5. Look for forums and online magazines with free patterns- Anticraft is a good one, so is Craftster, Craft Magazine, and Oh My Stars all have really great patterns for free.
