Instructions

    • 1

Cut a long section of tulle. The specific length will depend on the height of your arch. As a general rule, use 24 inches of tulle for every 12 inches of arch. For example: for an arch six feet tall and three feet wide, you need 30 feet of tulle.

    • 2

Drape the tulle across the top of the arch, wrapping the fabric around the arch. It should hang loosely to create a flowing effect. You can also use hot glue, floral wire or staples to attach it to the arch. Leave the ends of the fabric hanging down each side of the arch.

    • 3

Tie smaller pieces of tulle around each side of the arch to secure the main tulle piece and add a decorative effect.

    • 4

Make a large bow with a new piece of tulle, using enough fabric that the bow has six- to eight-inch tails. It should be full and flowing.

    • 5

Secure the bow in the center of the top of the arch, using floral wire to hold it in place. Let the tails hang down from the center.

    • 6

Accent the tulle with fresh flowers. Use straight pins, floral wire or hot glue to secure the flowers to the fabric attached to the arch (rather than the flowing pieces). You can also use faux pearls, ribbons and lace to further decorate the arch.

Tips & Warnings

  • In addition to flowers, greenery accents tulle quite nicely.

  • Never iron tulle. The delicate material will melt and burn if exposed to extreme heat.
