Remove Ring-Around-the-Collar

You found the cutest white collared dress shirt and you've noticed that you just can't get it clean around the collar. You haven't had the shirt very long and you don't want to throw it away. Well I have the solution and it isn't a fancy cleaner that you find in a store. I have found some that get stains out but I have yet to find one that gets ring-around-the-collar out. Here are 3 sure fire ways to get the job done. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1
      Rub shampoo on the collar

Rub shampoo into the shirt collar. Make sure it's not a shampoo and conditioner mixture, just use shampoo. Shampoo is specially designed to dissolve hair oils. Once you're done rubbing it, launder as usual.

    • 2
Pour the mixture on the collar

Mix ¼ cup liquid dish soap, ¼ cup water and ¼ cup ammonia together and rub it into the collar. When you're done, launder as usual.

    • 3
      Mix vinegar and baking soda

My favorite recipe for getting out ring-around-the-collar is just mixing vinegar and baking soda together in a paste and rubbing that on the collar. I use an old toothbrush and it works wonders. Baking soda and vinegar are my cure-alls around the house, they can clean most anything. Once you've scrubbed the collar awhile launder as usual. If this doesn't work abandon all hope and buy a new shirt.
