   Create a guest list. It is helpful to know just how many people are going to attend the party. Make a list that can be easily marked off when you receive responses. Also remember sometimes people will not readily accept because they aren't sure and may not even know until the day before the party. Always prepare for a few extra people just in case you have more than expected.

   Mail your invitations. Always have an RSVP card with the invitation. This way people will get back to you if they are coming. Make a follow-up phone call or send a follow-up email to make sure you have an accurate list.

4. Choose a party theme. Most of the time hosts will use a particular theme for the party. If you would rather not choose a theme, you can always aim for a comfortable and casual theme.
