Make Non-slip Wax for Wood Floors

Do you have wood floors that need sprucing up? I think that this article will help you. I have provided very easy steps on creating a non-slip wood floor wax. I have also included pictures of the products so that you know what your looking for.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wood floor
  • Small bucket
  • Paint stick or something to stir with
  • Gloves
  • Cloth sponge mop
  • 2 cups of denatured alcohol (flammable)
  • 1 cup of Orange Shellac (flammable)
  • 2 Tablespoons of Acacia
  • 2 Tablespoons of Turpentine (flammable)
  1. Step 1

Get your small bucket. You might want to designate this bucket for this purpose only.

  2. Step 2

Get your gloves and something to stir with that you can dispose of later. A paint stick would be excellent for this task.

  3. Step 3

Add your 2 cups of denatured alcohol. This can be found at your local super store. **Very flammable, please use caution when handling this product.

  4. Step 4

Now add 1 cup of orange shellac. You can find this product at your local hardware store or paint store. **Very flammable, please use caution when handling this product.

  5. Step 5

Add 2 tablespoons of acacia. What is acacia...A gum obtained from trees belonging to the mimosa family. Normally found in Africa and Australia. You can find this at a drugstore or chemical supply house.

  6. Step 6

Finally add 2 tablespoons of turpentine. Turpentine is a clear, colorless, oily liquid that is produced by the steam distillation of turpentine gum from certain pine trees. You can get this product at a hardware store or paint store. **Very flammable, please use caution when handling this product.

  7. Step 7

Now that all the ingredients are in the bucket mix well, then apply to floor with a cloth sponge mop and allow the wax to dry for 45 minutes.

  • Your average cost for all products is $40.00 for several uses.
