How to Make a Very Vanilla Iced Chai Latte

Save

Chai tea is a blend of black tea and various spices, often including cinnamon, star anise, cardamom and black pepper. A chai tea latte is chai tea with a large quantity of milk, either steamed or iced. In the case of the Very Vanilla iced chai latte, the milk used is Very Vanilla soymilk. Iced chai tea lattes can be an expensive beverage at your local coffee shop. Make your own at home to your own taste and save money in the bargain.

Things You'll Need

  • Bagged chai tea or chai tea concentrate
  • Ice
  • Glass
  • Very Vanilla soy milk
  • Sweetener (optional)

Bagged Tea Method

  • Place two tea bags of your selected chai tea in a 16 ounce glass. Add two to four ounces of hot water, and steep for five to 10 minutes. This allows the spices to release all their flavor and fragrance. Remove the tea bags and discard.

  • Add enough ice to fill the glass to the top. This will chill your tea effectively before adding any Very Vanilla soy milk. It is better to add the ice before the soy milk to ensure the drink stays cool until you finish it. Adding ice later can produce a lukewarm beverage.

  • Add Very Vanilla soy milk to the top of the glass. Stir the soy milk and tea, mixing thoroughly, until a uniform color forms in the glass. Taste the iced chai tea latte for sweetness and, if desired, add sweetener to taste.

Tea Concentrate Method

  • Add chai tea concentrate to your glass in the ratio suggested by the concentrate company. Chai tea concentrate is available at most grocery stores. Tazo and Oregon chai are popular brands.

Taste the iced chai tea latte for sweetness and, if desired, add sweetener or more tea concentrate to taste. You may have to experiment with the ratio of tea concentrate to Very Vanilla soy milk to find the perfect combination for your taste.
