How to Have a Masquerade Themed Wedding

Are you planning a masquerade theme wedding? This article will walk you through the steps of planning a successful masquerade themed wedding. Planning this type of wedding can be lots of fun, but remember to stay on theme and encourage your wedding guests to get involved in the masquerade spirit.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose theme colors for your wedding. Red and black will make fun masquerade colors, and will create a stunning contrast to the bride's white dress. Or, go with a purple and green theme. Choose whatever your favorite masquerade colors are.

    • 2

Send out themed invitations with masquerade masks on them. Let everyone know that this will be a masquerade themed wedding, and that you kindly request that wedding guests wear your theme colors to the wedding. Getting your guests involved with your masquerade theme will create a excitement for your theme wedding.

    • 3

Dress the bridesmaids and groomsmen in your theme colors (for example, red and black). If the bride chooses to wear a white dress, add a red accent to it, if possible, to tie her colors into the theme. Ask the groom to add a red accent to his outfit as well.

A white wedding dress with a red ribbon will look stunning, and a black tuxedo with a red accent will look amazing. The accent color, whatever it may be, will tie the whole wedding party's look together and will look fantastic in pictures.

Decorate your tables in accordance with your masquerade theme. In the middle of each table, make an inexpensive centerpiece by placing a masquerade mask in a glass vase. If possible, get rose petals to place on the table in one of your theme colors. A white tablecloth with black napkins and red rose petals can create a very nice look.

Be creative with wedding venue decorations. You can give the venue a mysterious, masquerade-themed look that is sure to amaze your guests. With a masquerade themed wedding, creativity is key. Have fun with wedding decorations!

    • 6

If you'd like to give your guests party favors, give out masquerade mask keychains, or small masquerade masks. If you would like to have a Mardi Gras and masquerade themed wedding, Mardi Gras beads will make great and inexpensive wedding favors.

    • 7

Have a masquerade cake. Decorate the cake to match your theme. Make it elaborate, creative, and fun. If your theme colors are red and black, red velvet cake may be an excellent choice. Or, you can decorate a white cake with elaborate masquerade designs and colors.

    • 8

Add a masquerade touch to your wedding pictures. Have the bride and groom wear or hold masquerade masks in some of the wedding photographs. If possible, have the wedding pictures taken in front of a masquerade style background. Theme colored curtains in the background of your wedding pictures will be a striking contrast to the bride's white dress.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be creative. Having a theme wedding gives you more freedom to move away from traditional wedding ideas.

  • Tie in your masquerade wedding with a Mardi Gras theme for extra fun.
