The Baby’s Birth Greeting must be requested after a baby is born. Follow the guidelines below to request a Baby Birth Greeting for your newborn. It is a keepsake that will be cherished forever.

  1. Step 1

    Become a United States Citizen. You must be an United States Citizen to receive a personalized baby birth greeting from our President.

  2. Step 2

    Request a greeting. Requests for a baby birth greeting must be made after a baby is born. The honoree must have been born within the past 12 months. It takes at least six weeks to process your request.

    Note: The Obama White House Greeting office has been swamped with requests for Presidential Greetings due to the historic value of this administration. The requests may take several months to receive.

  3. Step 3

    Provide the following information.
    Name of honoree.
    Address of honoree.
    Date (month, day, year) of birth.
    Requestor's name and daytime phone number.

  4. Step 4
    Mail Request
    Mail Request

    Mail your requests to:
    The White House
    Attn: Greetings Office
    Washington, D.C. 20502-0039

  5. Step 5

    Watch your mailboxes. The White House will send out your baby’s birth greeting in about six weeks.

    Picture Frame

    Select a nice frame for your official greeting and display it proudly. Who knows, your child may be our next president. Presidential greetings are also available for birthdays, anniversaries, baby’s birth, Eagle Scout Award, Girl Scout Gold Award and Bar / Bat Mitzvah or equivalent.

on 1/19/2009 I did this for my nephew in 1996 (at the time a friend was a DC intern - that's how I heard about it) but also for our son who was born in 2007. I'm due with our second February 2009 and will do the same for her!
This department of the White House also will send birthday greetings to those over 80 years of age as well as for anniversaries 50 years or higher. My sister submitted a request for an anniversary greeting for our parents 50th. It was a treasured gift!
Speaking of another cool welcome/greetings, Ringling Bros. grants a free ticket to the circus for your baby (the offer is called "Baby's 1st Circus"). It must be done prior to the child turning one - go to www.ringling.com under special offers for details.
