Things You'll Need:
- mild dishwashing soap
- a sink with cool running water
-
Step 1
With your wig in a clean sink, squirt some dishwashing soap onto your hand. Make sure to use a mild dishwashing soap to clean a wig. Do not use soap designed for cleaning dishes in a dishwasher to clean a wig, as that type of detergent is not safe for hand washing.
-
Step 2
Run cool water into the sink, letting the synthetic wig soak up the water. Lather up the soap by dipping your hands under the running water.
-
Step 3
Rub the soap lather onto the wig. Scrub gently to remove any styling products and debris from the wig.
-
Step 4
Gently rinse the wig clean with the cool running water. Do not use hot water because the heat could damage the wig’s shape.
-
Step 5
After you clean a wig, it is time for the drying process. Air drying is preferred, but if you’re in a hurry to wear the clean wig, you can dry it with a hair dry. Make sure to only use a cool setting on your hair dryer as you dry the synthetic wig.
