Things You'll Need:
- Mini Rubber Duck
- Duck Cookie Cutters
- Cake mix
- Food coloring
- Fondant
- Small Plastic Doll
-
Step 1
Perhaps the most important part of the shower is the cake. To make this cake you will need three cake layers. Bake the cake mix as directed in two cake pans of different sizes. Reserve a small amount of cake mix to bake in a glass batter bowl. This will create the rounded top.
-
Step 2
Once the cake is cooled, place the layers on top of each other in order from largest to smallest. Be sure to spread frosting in between each layer. Mix food coloring into the frosting as desired. Frost the cake layers. Swirl the frosting on the top of the cake to make it look like water.
-
Step 3
Add food coloring to the fondant as desired for the ducks and dots. Roll the fondant out to 1/4 inch thick. Using cookie cutters, cut shapes from the fondant.
-
Step 4
Attach the fondant shapes to the cake by pressing them into the frosting.
-
Step 5
Remove the legs from the baby doll. Insert the doll into the top layer of the cake. The doll should be waist deep. Place a rubber duck next to the doll's hands. Add frosting around the dolls waist to blend in the insertion point.

on 11/22/2008 Thanks for the tips, especially about the fondant. I've never used it before and probably would have done the pre-made kind.
