Fluff up your standard green bough wreath. Most wreaths are flattened for display, so take a few moments and bend the wires outward to make the artificial wreath look more realistic.

Add the tape measure as you might a fabric ribbon. Attach the base or box of the tape measure to the wreath with wire, then pull out some of the measuring tape and wrap it around the wreath as you would a ribbon. Go all the way around the wreath with this and secure the end of the tape to some of the wire.

Spray nails and screws with gold spray paint. Allow them to dry, then wire them in groups of threes to the wreath. Place them liberally around the wreath. Vary the size of the nails and screws in the groupings to add more depth. Incorporate a few silver or natural colored nails and screws as well for contrast.

Wire in the small tools, like the pliers and miniature hammer. Wander through the home improvement store to find small to medium sized items to use on your wreath. Don't forget to look at the novelty key chains as they often have small wrenches or hammers you can use on the wreath.

Add small red or gold bows to make the wreath look more festive. You can also choose to use silvers to match some of the other tools you are including in the wreath. Continue to fill the wreath with bows, tools and other items until it looks full.

Finish the wreath by attaching the larger red bow on the bottom of the wreath. Wire the carpenter's pencil to the bow for added detail.
