Step 1
Go digital. Evite is the online event coordinator to use. Organize your guest list, keep track of RSVPs and customize the invitation to fit the event. No paper needed (see Resources below).
-
Step 2
Think recycled. if you must use paper products use those made from recycled or tree free paper, like bamboo, banana or hemp. This can be for the invitations, the napkins or the guest book or even for games that may use paper.
-
Step 3
Forget about disposables. Use reusable plates, cups, napkins and tablewear. So what if you have to throw some dishes in the dishwasher afterward? Its for a good cause!
-
Step 4
Make green the theme. Ask guests to bring eco-friendly gifts like a kitchen composter, products made from recycled materials, bamboo kitchenware, organic skin and bath products, gardening products, or organic food. Make sure to ask that they keep gift wrap and packaging to a minimum to conserve resources.
-
Step 5
Have the bridal shower in an eco-friendly location like in the middle of a beautiful garden, on an organic farm, at a vineyard or at a local apple orchard.
-
Step 6
Serve organic, local and seasonal foods. Experiment with tasty organic recipes or grab stuff at the local organic deli or Farmer's Market.
-
Step 7
Play games for charity. Collect donations for charity in a bowl at the end of the shower have everyone guess how much money is in the bowl. The winner gets a prize and the money goes to charity. Or play games where you gamble and all the money collected goes to the bride's favorite charity.
-
Step 8
Give eco-friendly party prizes like soy candles, recycled paper note cards or journals, or organic bath products.
