How to Draw Cartoon Manga Eyes

In manga, especially in shoujo styles, the main focus of the face is the eyes. There is nothing more important. Manga eyes are much more detailed than most cartoon eyes, so it is important to draw them with an attention to detail. These tips will show you how.

Instructions

1. 

   Draw an oval. Draw a circle in the top right part of the oval and the lower left part. Erase the left edge of the bottom circle, as shown in the example.

2. 

   Add detail to the eye by adding a circle that connects the two circles from step one. Draw another circle around it. Add lines that radiate out from the pupil.

3. 

   Make the eye look male by coloring in the circles, making the iris darker than the rest of the eye. Leave the circles in example one white for highlights. Add an arched line to the top and the bottom of the eye, as shown in the example.

4. 

   Draw a female eye by coloring in the iris and using short strokes around the iris and eye for shading. The lid will be a very thick, triangular shape that lays on top of the eye. Add a curved line below the eye, then add lashes, as shown in the example.
