Step 1
Design the overall size and shape of your creation. For example, you could make a giant mural covering half the backyard, or you could make a zoo full of snow animal sculptures.
-
Step 2
Create building blocks by packing snow into containers or molds. For example, snow molded in loaf pans makes excellent bricks. You can also make pillars using glasses. You can make domes using bowls. Any fancy Jello molds, cake pans or ice cube trays can also be used for snow art molds.

Step 3
Construct the basic framework. Outline a picture by drawing with sticks or making trails of footprints. Alternately, build up the overall shape of your sculptures by using your molded building blocks, snowman-style snowballs and packed heaps of snow.
-
Step 4
Add details, molded from snow or using other materials. You can also decorate your snow art with shiny ice accents made by leaving water outside in containers to freeze or with evergreen needles.

Step 5
Mix a little food coloring into spray bottles of water. Use this coloring to mist parts of your art. This gives the snow a bit of a tint, a slightly shiny finish and a stronger outer layer as the water hardens into ice.
