How to Make a Crocheted Beret
As winter weather approaches, so does the need for winter clothes. Crocheted berets are fashionable and cute. Making one will only take an hour or two, basic crocheting knowledge and part of a skein of yarn. At the end of it, you should have a sweet beret to tuck your hair under, to match your favorite winter coat and mittens and stay warm when temperatures drop.

Repeat Step 2 six times, spreading the six single crochet stitches out evenly in the circle. You should now have a circle with six single crochet stitches on the outside.
-
4
For your third row, put two single crochet stitches in each of the six chain stitches.

6
If the beret starts to ruffle, one, rather than two, single crochet (sc) stitches in every other stitch. The stitches should then be one sc, two sc, one sc.

7
Continue adding rows until it is about 10 inches in circumference.

8
Once you are satisfied with its width, begin decreasing the size of the beret.

9
To decrease the beret's size, create a single crochet stitch through two stitches. In other words, put your hook through two of the previous row's stitches and create a single crochet stitch to unite those two.

Alternate a normal single crochet stitch with the stitch described in step 7 until you've created the desired hole for your head.
