Fancy gift bows are expensive or sometimes you just don't have one on hand. Here's how to make a curly bow that matches the gift paper. Best of all, it's free as it's made from leftover scraps. Here how to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • leftover scraps of paper after wrapping a gift
  • scissors
  • tape
  1. Step 1

While wrapping the gift, save the sections of excess paper that get trimmed off. Cut these into thin strips about 6 to 10 inches long.

  2. Step 2

Pull the strips across the blade of the scissors, just the way you curl ribbons.

  3. Step 3

Cut enough to have a full cluster of curls.

  4. Step 4

Hold the curled strip in the center. Stack all the strips in a crisscross fashion while holding them in the center.

  5. Step 5

Turn the stack of curled strips over and place it on the package. Hold it in place with one hand and get a piece of clear tape to put across the center of the batch of curls.

  6. Step 6

Fluff the curls into place so they cover the tape. More can be added at this point if it isn't full enough.

Tips & Warnings
  • The gift tag can be nestled into the center of the curly bow.
  • If the paper is extremely thin or delicate, it will tear when pulled over the scissors' blade.
