Apply appliques on children's clothes or on crafts with the blind stitch. Embellish a wedding gown using this stitch. Quilters often use the blind stitch when creating an heirloom design. Practice to perfect this century-old art when sewing your next project.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Use the blind stitch to hem a skirt or pants. Fold, pin and press the fabric to the desired length.

  2. Step 2

Roll the edge of the hem slightly and take a very tiny stitch in the fabric as you work from right to left.

  3. Step 3

Select a thin sewing needle to enable you to pick up a single thread. Work to the left of the first stitch as you continue to make a small stitch on the fold and pick up a one-thread stitch on the fabric.

  4. Step 4

Create small but slightly loose stitches. The stitches should barely be seen on the right side of the hem.

  5. Step 5

Sew appliques or attach a variety of embellishments and trims by implementing the art of blind stitching.
