Using a pillow sham is a great way to jazz up a tired old pillow and make it really stand out as a decorative piece in your room. With some very basic sewing knowledge and a great fabric, you can give your pillow new life and style.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Measure the pillow you would like to cover.

  2. Step 2

Choose your desired fabric, along with any decorative trim or pieces you would like to use.

  3. Step 3

Fold the fabric in half, print side in.

  4. Step 4

Cut your fabric to size, leaving about 1-½ inch extra in all directions for the hem.

  5. Step 5

Use a sewing machine to sew a simple stitch from the fold of the fabric out along the two longest sides.

  6. Step 6

Cut off any excess along the edges.

  7. Step 7

Fold over your fabric along the bottom of your pillow sham to create the hem.

  8. Step 8

Sew along the hem, leaving your pillow sham open so you can slide a pillow into it.

  9. Step 9

Add any desired decorative pieces to your pillow using your sewing machine, or even fabric glue.

  10. Step 10

Turn your pillow sham right-side-out and slide your pillow inside.
